Printed Fabric on the Roll

The MOQ for these fabrics is lower because we print on them the most frequently. This usually means we would have some of them in our storeroom left over from previous orders, making it easier to process orders for smaller amounts as we can just pop it on the end of a roll that’s already been used. 25m is the MOQ for the rest of our fabrics because we print on them far less frequently. If you were to place an order for any of our other fabrics, we would have to order in a new roll, and they don’t tend to be available on rolls smaller than 25m.

You can split the total amount of meterage you’re ordering between a few different designs if you’d like. As long as it’s not a huge number of designs that you’re ordering, there isn’t really a set MOQ per design. For example, if you were ordering 25m and wanted 5m each of 5 different designs, we could do that for you no problem, however if you were ordering 1m each of 25 different designs, we may want to charge extra for the amount of studio time it would take to check through each file. If you’re thinking of ordering lots of different designs all at once, get in touch with a member of the team and we can go through some different options with you.

If you would like to print meterage which consists of a continuous repeat pattern, you would only need to provide us with the single repeat at the correct scale and we can repeat it out to the width of the cloth and the amount of meterage you would like to order. You do not need to provide a file which is the length of the meterage you want to order, as these files would be far too large and difficult to open. If you would like to print meterage which consists of a single panel file that you are going to cut out yourself and make into another product e.g. Lampshades, tea towels, totes etc., let us know how many of that file you would like printed and we can let you know how much meterage it will take up. Again, you only need to provide us with the individual file, and we can repeat it out for you.

The printable width can vary fabric to fabric. An easy way to work out the printable width would be to look at the ‘Width’ column on the price list for the fabric you’d like, convert that into cm and then take 4cm off that. For example, on a 56-inch-wide fabric, this equates to approx. 142cm. Then take 4cm off that which results in the printable width being approx. 138cm.

Please send your files as RGB TIFFs/PDFs/PSDs or JPEGs at 300dpi resolution or higher. If your artwork is print ready, there is no setup charge.

For our printed fabric on the roll, we use two different print methods depending on which fabric you’d like to print on:

• Digital Printing – used for printing on our cottons and linens.
• Dye Sublimination – used for printing on our polyesters.
  
  

Both methods are classed as a ‘full colour print’ so you can have as many colours as you’d like without affecting the price.

Digital printing is done using water-based pigment inks which are applied directly to the cloth via the print head. Dye sublimation printing is done using dye sublimation inks which are first printed on to transfer paper and then using our rotary heat press is applied and fused to the polyester fabric. We currently only offer pre-order sampling on 3 fabrics:

• 2218 Half Panama Cotton 230gsm (optic, coated)
• 2218 Half Panama Cotton Organic 230gsm (natural, coated)
• Artist Velour 275gsm
  
  

These would be classed as ‘Strike Offs’ which is a 147x100cm flat print. The main use for a strike off is so you can test your colours before placing a bulk order. Please note, strike offs are NOT sewn into final products, it’s just a flat piece of fabric. Strike offs can be ordered on the ‘Order Samples’ tab here on our website. The charge for these is £30.

We do not offer pre-order sampling on our other fabrics due to the amount of waste that would be produced. Every time a new roll of fabric is loaded onto the machine, approx. 3-5m is wasted in getting the tension correct. This would mean that if we were printing a 1m strike off, there would actually be more wasted fabric that the sample itself. As mentioned previously, some of the fabrics listed above are printed on very frequently so we could just pop a 1m sample on the end of a roll that’s already printing.

If your project requires you to do a printed sample before printing, we can do this, but it would only be possible once an invoice is paid for at least the MOQ plus delivery and a £30 sampling fee.

The lead time for printed fabric on the roll depends on a couple of factors:

• Our workload at the time of your order.
• The stock level of the fabric you’d like to order.
  
  

Given that there is a good stock of the fabric you want and it’s not a particularly busy time of year, we should be able to fulfil orders for fabric within 1-2 weeks. This is from payment of the invoice or approval of artwork if this is required for your order. However, if there is low or zero stock of the fabric or it’s a bust time of year e.g. around Christmas, the lead time will be longer. If you have a deadline, always check with a member of the team if your deadline is achievable.
