At Meshtex printing services, we’re able to offer custom tea towel printing, with no setup costs, low minimums, and competitive trade pricing.
We receive quite a number of similar questions about tea towel printing, so in this article we’re hoping to cover the most commonly asked questions relating to custom tea towel printing.
What process is used for tea towel printing?
Digitally printed tea towels are made using fabric which has been digitally printed, or in some cases printed directly onto blank tea towels that have already been made up.

Please Note – any reference to lead times are a correct estimate at the time the article was published. Lead times are always estimated and never guaranteed, and for our current estimated lead times see: lead times & deadlines.
For instance, digital tea towel printing can be done via the dye sublimation print process onto paper which is then heat pressed onto ready made tea towels. It can also be done by printing onto the fabric with a direct to textile printer, and then cutting and making up the tea towels from this digitally printed fabric.
Which process is right for you will depend on your images, how many colours are in the images, the detail in your images, and the quantity you require.
If we determine that digital printing is the way forward for your requirements, and if you’re wanting bulk tea towel printing services (starting at 50pcs), we would print onto fabric with our direct to textile printer, and then the tea towels are made from this digitally printed fabric.
We can help you whether you determine that you need to go the traditional route or via digital, just give us a call on 01625 876949, or use the quotation form.
What are the Costs for Tea Towel Printing?
There’s no simple way to give a ball-park costing for custom tea towel printing. But the good news is – if you submit a quote request, providing as much detail as possible, we respond very quickly, within the hour whenever possible, so you won’t have to wait very long to find out.
Why is “Made in the UK” important?

You may notice that we’re proud of the fact that our tea towel printing and production is all done here in the UK.
This isn’t just about patriotism, it’s not just about supporting our own Great British economy, it’s not just about the environment – it’s about many things, the most important one for us, being quality.
Our tea towels are manufactured here in the UK from fabric which has been printed here in the UK. This isn’t a case of importing tea towels in bulk, printing them here and then calling them a UK made product. If you use our custom tea towel printing services, your tea towels will be 100% UK made from start to finish.
What this means is that the quality of the fabric (which is purchased from one of the UK’s leading textile production companies), the quality of the pre-treatment (if we’re producing your tea towels using a pre-treated fabric), the print quality, and the quality of the cutting, trimming and sewing, is all of a high UK made standard, which makes our custom printed tea towels second to none regarding overall quality.
Can digitally printed tea towels be washed?
We’re often asked if digitally printed fabric is washing machine and tumbledrier safe, and this question is often a result of people having read out of date information on the web concerning digital fabric printing not being great for wash fastness.
This was one of the teething problems for digital fabric printing early on, for certain print processes such as pigment printing, but things have moved on, and most digital fabric processes now, including reactive dyes and pigment printing, offer great wash fastness – you can wash, and tumble dry digitally printed tea towels.

What is the size of a standard tea towel?
We offer a completely custom tea towel printing service, so we can create whatever size and shaped tea towel you would like, however the standard for a large tea towel is usually around 45x68cm.
What fabric are printed tea towels made from?
Again, as we offer a custom tea towel printing service, you can choose your fabric if you have a particular fabric in mind, however, the most popular fabrics for tea towels tend to be cotton drill and half panama. If you’d like sample swatches just give us a call on 01625 876949, email us, or use the quotation form.
What is the minimum order?
When it comes to our bulk custom tea towel printing, the minimum is just 50pcs.
Is bulk tea towel printing for trade different than tea towel printing for schools?
Although we class ourselves as a “trade only” wholesale supplier, this includes schools, universities, clubs and other organisations as well as businesses. So if you’re looking for tea towel printing for a school or other educational organisation or otherwise, get in touch.
